Native from Ecuador to western Bolivia, this flowering plant belongs to the daisy family, Asteraceae. Narrow purple rays spread outward around a centre of golden-orange florets. Each daisy-like head is made up of many individual flowers, with the outer florets producing the petal-like rays. The species belongs to Onoseris, a genus whose diversity is concentrated along the South American Andes. Photographed in Peru.
