Oncidium Sharry Baby (Chocolate Orchid)

Developed in cultivation from Jamie Sutton and Honolulu, this perennial hybrid orchid is prized for flowers with a cocoa-like fragrance. Its branching stems carry numerous small burgundy flowers with contrasting pale lips. Its scent follows a daily rhythm, strongest in the morning and fading at night. Different named selections vary in flower color and scent intensity. It has received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit and has been used extensively in breeding other fragrant orchids. Photographed in Florida.
