Oncidium isthmi
Native from Costa Rica to Colombia, this perennial epiphytic orchid grows in wet tropical forests. Its clustered, ridged pseudobulbs carry two leaves, while long flower stems rise from mature growths and arch outward. The branching sprays bear numerous yellow flowers with brown markings and a faint fragrance. Individual flowers are about 1 inch across. Flowering commonly occurs in fall, and the stems can reach approximately 4 feet long. Photographed in Colombia.
