Oenothera versicolor
Native from Ecuador to northwestern Argentina, this short-lived herbaceous plant can grow as an annual, biennial, or perennial. Upright, reddish stems carry clusters of fragrant flowers in summer. The flowers begin in yellow-orange shades and deepen to orange-red as they age, creating several colors on a flowering plant. It generally reaches about 2 to 3 feet tall. It can be propagated from seed. Photographed in Colombia.
