Ochroma pyramidale (Balsa Wood)

Native to Belize, Bolivia, northern Brazil, Central American Pacific Is., Colombia, and Costa Rica and nearby regions, this is a tree in the Malvaceae family. The only native species of the genus Ochroma in Colombia with a habitat below 6,000 feet. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia.
