Notoniopsis fulgens

Native to southern Africa, this succulent perennial occurs in hot, dry habitats in South Africa, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe. It grows to about two feet tall from a creeping tuberous rootstock. Brilliant coral-orange to scarlet flower heads contain numerous small tubular florets. Photographed in Colombia.
