Nematanthus fluminensis
Native to southeastern Brazil, this epiphytic subshrub grows in humid tropical forests. Large, showy flowers hang from long slender stalks and may emerge from bare portions of the stems. The pale yellow tubular corolla narrows near its attachment and expands toward a lobed mouth. Reddish sepals contrast with the yellow bloom. It can grow on rocks as well as on tree branches in shaded forest habitats. Photographed in Florida.
