Myrcianthes oreophila

Native from southern Peru to Bolivia, this Andean tree grows in tropical habitats with a seasonal dry period. White flowers have broad petals surrounding a dense mass of long, slender stamens. The projecting stamens create a conspicuous brush-like centre. It belongs to the myrtle family, Myrtaceae. Photographed in Peru.
