Large clusters of bright red Mussaenda Capricorn Dream sepals surround tiny yellow flowers

Mussaenda 'Capricorn Dream'

Of cultivated hybrid origin in Australia, this upright tropical shrub was developed from a cross between Mussaenda ā€˜DoƱa Evangelina’ and Mussaenda erythrophylla. Its upright flower clusters have large red, petal-like sepals surrounding small yellow flowers with yellow-orange centres and red hairs. Red colouring also appears along the leaf veins, especially beneath the leaves. Selected for an early and prolonged flowering display, it can be propagated from cuttings. Photographed in Florida.
