Native to the tropical regions of China and Vietnam, the Scarlet Banana, is a bat-pollinated evergreen perennial that thrives in semi-shaded locations. Its distinctive feature, the erect spirals of tubular yellow flowers encased in bright scarlet bracts. The small orange-yellow fruits are inedible. Photographed in Salento, Colombia.
