Muhlenbergia capillaris
Native to central and eastern North America southward into Mexico and Guatemala, it is a clumping perennial grass. It inhabits open woodland, savanna, and rocky sites. Plants reach about three to four feet tall when flowering. Fine, widely branching pink flower clusters rise above the clumps in late summer and autumn, creating a light, cloud-like display. Photographed in Peru.
