Mucuna bennettii
Native from Sulawesi through New Guinea and the Solomon Islands to Vanuatu, this large woody climber grows in tropical forests and freshwater swamps. In rainforest, it climbs into the canopy. Hanging flower clusters reach about 1 foot long and bear orange-red, claw-shaped flowers about 3 inches long. Its leaves are divided into three oval leaflets. It can be propagated from stem cuttings. Photographed in Armenia, Colombia.
