Monochaetum brachyurum

Native to Colombia and Venezuela, it is a shrub in the Melastomataceae family. Documented elevations extend from about 2,600 to 12,300 feet. It develops branching woody stems and dense foliage, with pink and purple flowers arranged singly or in inflorescences. Photographed in Colombia.
