Mimosa strigillosa
Native to the southern United States, this low-growing perennial herb spreads by creeping stems and forms broad mats. It grows about three to six inches tall. Pink to rose-coloured flower heads rise above finely divided foliage from spring into autumn. The small leaflets fold when disturbed, a distinctive feature of this groundcover. Photographed in Colombia.
