Miltoniopsis vexillaria

Native to western South America, this perennial orchid grows on trees in moist tropical habitats. Its broad, flat flowers resemble pansies, with a particularly large lip and a contrasting yellow centre. Pink and white forms occur. Swollen stems called pseudobulbs support the flowering growth. The species is listed as vulnerable in Colombia. Photographed in Colombia.
