Miconia tococa

Native from southern Mexico through tropical South America, Miconia tococa is a shrub or small tree of wet forest, savanna, and other humid tropical habitats. Broad opposite leaves may bear swollen structures near their bases that shelter ants. Hanging flowers have pale fleshy petals, projecting stamens, and conspicuous pink-green calyces.
