Miconia notabilis

Native to Colombia and Ecuador, this plant is a small tree that grows along Andean forest edges. Its opposite leaves are narrow and pointed, with prominent veins that curve toward the tips. Flower clusters develop at the ends of the branches, bearing white or pale pink petals around numerous stamens. Its stamens have yellow filaments and white anthers. The small, spherical, fleshy fruits change from red to dark purple as they mature. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia.
