Miconia bicolor
Native to southeastern Florida and the Caribbean, this evergreen shrub or small tree grows in pine rocklands and tropical rockland hammocks. It grows about ten to thirty feet tall. Clusters of white flowers with conspicuous yellow stamens appear from late spring into summer. The pale undersides of its foliage are distinctive. Bees pollinate its flowers, and birds eat its edible fruits. It is listed as threatened in Florida. Photographed in Ecuador.
