Mansoa (species unidentified)

Native from Mexico and the Caribbean through Central and South America, this genus of woody climbing vines occurs in both wet and seasonally dry forests. Many species have a strong garlic odor in their stems and leaves. The leaves usually carry two or three leaflets, with the terminal leaflet often replaced by a tendril that helps the vine climb. Flowers have tubular to funnel-shaped corollas, and the fruits are elongated capsules containing winged seeds. Photographed in Colombia.
