Malpighia glabra (Barbados Cherry)
Native to Aruba, Belize, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Dominican Republic and nearby regions, this is a tree in the Malpighiaceae family. It is a drought-tolerant tree. It has a notable presence in the southernmost regions of Texas. Introduced to the tropics​.The fruit can be sweet to acidic and is high in vitamin C and sold on roadsides close to where it is cultivated. Photographed in the Department of Atlantico, Colombia.
