Lysipomia laciniata
Native from Venezuela through western South America, this small perennial herb grows in tropical mountain habitats. Its white flowers have yellow throats marked with purple or fuchsia spots. In Colombia, it grows in the Andes and the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta at about 10,500 to 14,800 feet. Its low growth keeps the foliage and flowers close to the ground among high-mountain vegetation. Photographed in Colombia.
