Lycaste measuresiana

Native from Nicaragua to Venezuela, this orchid grows on trees in wet tropical habitats. Its swollen pseudobulbs support fleshy flowers borne individually on stalks arising at their bases. Three spreading sepals give the blooms a triangular outline around the petals and lip. Photographed in Panama.
