Creamy white Lycaste macrophylla flowers with pale pink centres cluster beside tree bark

Lycaste macrophylla

Native to northern and western South America, this orchid grows on trees in wet tropical habitats. Its growth includes prominent pseudobulbs and folded leaves, features characteristic of Lycaste. Individual flowers emerge on stalks from the base of the growths, with three spreading sepals framing the central petals and lip. Photographed in Panama.
