Lupinus (species unidentified)
Native across the Americas and from the Mediterranean region into parts of Africa, lupines form a genus of herbs and shrubs in the pea family. Many species produce showy upright clusters of pea-shaped flowers, with an upper standard, two wings, and a lower keel. Their flowers may be various colours or bicoloured. Many have leaves with several leaflets radiating from one point. The seeds contain alkaloids and can cause poisoning if eaten in large quantities without appropriate processing. Photographed in Colombia.
