Luffa cylindrica
Native to South Asia, this annual herbaceous vine climbs using branched tendrils and can extend nearly fifty feet. Large yellow flowers are either male or female on the same plant, with male flowers in elongated clusters and female flowers solitary. Mature fruits develop the fibrous internal network used as natural loofah sponges. Photographed in Colombia.
