Lucuma bifera


Lucuma bifera is a fruit tree native from Colombia south through the Andes to northern Chile. It has a rounded crown of leathery green leaves and produces green-skinned fruits with dense yellow to orange flesh surrounding large glossy seeds. The species grows mainly in seasonally dry tropical and subtropical environments and has a long history of cultivation for its edible fruit. Photographed in Florida.
