Loropetalum chinense (Chinese Fringe Flower)
Native to China and nearby parts of eastern and southeastern Asia, this evergreen or semi-evergreen shrub can develop into a small tree. Its arching branches form a rounded to vase-shaped plant. Clusters of lightly scented flowers have four narrow, ribbonlike petals, giving the plant its fringe flower name. White-flowered forms and pink-flowered garden selections are cultivated. Flowering is most prominent in spring. Photographed in Colombia.
