An ornamental tree native to Japan, boasting small, fragrant white flowers arranged in pointed cluster. Two of its cultivars, 'Aureum' and 'Argenteum,' are particularly favored for their variegated foliage, presenting an added ornamental value with their golden and creamy white leaf margins respectively​​.
