Lewisia cotyledon (Siskiyou Lewisia)
Native to the western United States, this evergreen perennial herb forms compact rosettes of fleshy, strap-shaped leaves. Open sprays of funnel-shaped flowers rise on short stems, with colors ranging from pink and orange to yellow or white. Propagation is possible from seed or offsets. It is suited to rock gardens and wall crevices with sharply drained soil. Winter wet can cause rot around the base of the leaves. Photographed in Colombia.
