Leptospermum scoparium (Tea Tree)

Originating from New Zealand and southeast Australia, the Tea Tree, has been embraced in various parts of the world for its ornamental and therapeutic attributes. This large shrub is particularly known for its aromatic, needle-like leaves and showy flowers, which appear in late spring and summer, coming in shades of red, pink, or white depending on the variety. Furthermore, the mānuka's nectar is a key ingredient in the production of mānuka honey, a type of honey that's sought after for its unique taste and potential health benefits. Essential oils are extracted from its leaves. There are many cultivars of Leptospermum scoparium. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
