Lavandula stoechas (Spanish Lavender)
Originating from the Mediterranean coast to North Africa, the Spanish Lavender is cherished for both ornamental and practical purposes. Its traditional medicinal it is hailed for its antiseptic, demulcent, and nervine tonic properties, and aromatherapy for its calming effects. The drought tolerant shrub is hardy down to 10°F. Depending on the climate it can flower year-round. It is identified as an invasive species in Australia and parts of Spain. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
