Kohleria warszewiczii

Native only to Colombia, it is a perennial that grows from underground rhizomes and may develop an upright or spreading habit. It occurs in the Andes, Pacific region and Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Field surveys in Quindío recorded it at forest edges, roadsides, ravines and forest plantations. Its tubular pink flowers have contrasting spotted lobes, and its foliage has a velvety texture. The species received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Photographed in the department of Quindio, Colombia.
