Kohleria Hybrid (Hybrid Kohleria)

These perennial herbs and subshrubs are garden hybrids cultivated for their velvety foliage and brightly patterned tubular flowers. The genus belongs to the gesneriad family and has a long history of ornamental breeding. Modern hybrids offer a wide range of flower colors and often have shorter stems suited to windowsills or growing under lights. Many produce scaly rhizomes that can be stored and replanted. Their attractive foliage and long flowering season make these plants popular in collections. Photographed in Florida.
