Justicia carnea (Brazilian Plume)
Native to southeastern and southern Brazil, northeastern Argentina and Paraguay, this evergreen shrub grows in humid tropical habitats. It is cultivated for upright, plume-like clusters of tubular flowers, with pink and white selections among its garden forms. Flower clusters develop on new growth. Established plants can flower in several flushes each year, and cuttings root readily. Photographed in the department of Quindio, Colombia.
