Jungia gunnerifolia has a solitary white flower head with many narrow curling florets and broad outer lobes beside green buds

Jungia gunnerifolia (Gunnera Leaved Jungia)

Endemic to Colombia, this herbaceous member of the daisy family grows on the San Lorenzo massif on the northwestern flank of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. It has a tufted habit and alternate, round leaves carried on long stalks. The stalk attaches within the blade rather than at its edge. Large, unstalked leaf-like bracts occur below the leaves. Solitary flower heads develop at the stem tips. Photographed in Colombia.
