Isertia haenkeana
Native across parts of Central America, Cuba and northern South America, it is a shrub or tree of wet tropical forests. It is often found along forest edges, trails and in secondary vegetation. Its terminal flower clusters bear narrow tubular flowers in shades of yellow, orange or red. Small rounded fruits mature red or black. In Panama, flowering and fruiting are recorded throughout the year, and butterflies and hummingbirds visit the flowers. Occasionally grown as an ornamental, it can be propagated from seed. Photographed in the department of Cordoba, Colombia.
