Ipomoea philomega has bright pink funnel-shaped flowers with long narrow tubes above a crowded cluster of rounded buds

Ipomoea philomega (Pink Forest Morning Glory)

Native from southern Mexico through tropical America, this vigorous woody vine grows in moist forests and can climb 33 feet or more. Thick woody stems support large, broadly ovate leaves with shallow heart-shaped bases. The lower leaf surfaces are often lightly hairy. Many-flowered clusters arise from the leaf axils, carrying narrow funnel-shaped, deep pink flowers. Their rounded sepals are often reddish, and the corolla tube may narrow slightly below its flared mouth. Smooth, oval capsules contain woolly seeds. Flowering is associated with rainy periods in parts of its range. Photographed in Colombia.
