Ipomoea dumetorum (Morning Glory)

This annual vine has smooth, twining stems and ovate to lance-shaped leaves, sometimes shallowly three-lobed, with heart-shaped or arrow-shaped bases. Small axillary clusters carry pink to violet funnel-shaped flowers, often pale inside the tube. The short sepals may have conspicuous green warts or glands. Rounded capsules contain several dark, finely hairy seeds. Native in parts of North, Central, and western South America, the species grows in scrub and open vegetation across dry to moist habitats. Photographed in Colombia.
