Ipomoea batatoides

Native to Belize, Bolivia, northeastern Brazil, northern Brazil, southeastern Brazil, and west-central Brazil and nearby regions, it is a vine in the Convolvulaceae family. Documented elevations extend from about 260 to 5,150 feet. Its climbing or trailing stems carry foliage and purple flowers, sometimes grouped in conspicuous inflorescences. Photographed in Colombia.
