Dark purple-blue Iochroma australe flower with yellow stamens
Iochroma australe (Blue Angel Trumpet)

A shrub native to southern Argentina and Bolivia, this species finds its identity in the trumpet-shaped lavender-blue to blue flowers that it bears, evoking imagery of some Daturas or Brugmansia but on a smaller scale. It has received the Award of Garden Merit conferred upon it by the Royal Horticultural Society, specifically the white-flowered variant. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
