Inga laurina
Native from western and southern Mexico through tropical America, it is a tree found in both mature forest and disturbed secondary woodland. Its leaves usually have two pairs of leaflets, with nectar-producing glands between them. The white flowers have numerous long stamens, and the curved pods contain seeds surrounded by an edible white aril. In Panama, its wood is used for firewood, boxes and flooring. Photographed in Atlantico, Colombia.
