Ilex crenata Golden Helleri (Japanese Holly)

Golden Helleri is a cultivated, gold-leaved sport of Helleri Japanese holly. This evergreen shrub develops into a small, rounded mound, reaching about sixty centimeters tall and slightly wider over many years. Its evergreen foliage provides a bright accent in borders and compact plantings. The species from which it was selected is native to Japan and other parts of eastern Asia, with small leaves bearing shallow rounded teeth. Photographed in Florida.
