Hylaeaicum margaretae has long toothed green leaves with pink inner bases surrounding a dense central cluster of pale buds

Hylaeaicum margaretae

Native to the Brazilian state of Amazonas, this perennial bromeliad grows as an epiphyte in humid tropical vegetation. Its narrow, triangular leaves can exceed thirty centimeters long, and the inner leaves turn red as the plant flowers. Small flowers have separate white petals about one centimeter long. Long stolons allow the plant to form additional rosettes. Photographed in Florida.
