Hosta sieboldii has pale lavender funnel-shaped flowers with dark purple veins and projecting cream-colored stamens

Hosta sieboldii (Small-Leaved Plantain Lily)

Native to Japan and nearby northeastern Asian islands, this clump-forming perennial herb inhabits wetlands, meadows, and mountain vegetation. The leaves vary in shape and size, commonly becoming lance-shaped with pointed tips. Upright flower stalks rise above the low foliage, bearing spaced flowers with slender tubes and spreading, recurved lobes. Purple stripes mark the pale purple blooms, and the stamens and style project from the open flowers. Flowering generally occurs in summer. Numerous leaf forms and occasional white-flowered plants occur within the species. Photographed in Colombia.
