Hibiscus archeri has ruffled salmon-peach petals around a red throat and a long dangling staminal column

Hibiscus × archeri (Archer's Hibiscus)

This garden hybrid is a cross between Chinese hibiscus and the fringed-flowered Hibiscus schizopetalus. This evergreen shrub combines an open branching habit with ornamental flowers whose petals may have curled or finely cut edges. A long projecting staminal column gives the flowers their characteristic hibiscus appearance. The original form was described with scarlet flowers, while cultivated selections include other colors, including salmon shades. Photographed in Florida.
