Hibiscus grandidieri var. greveanus
Native to Madagascar, this variety inhabits a region with a pronounced seasonal dry period. It is a branching shrub, commonly about four to six feet tall in cultivation. The delicate red flowers hang from the shoots, giving the plant a weeping appearance. Its flowers are red to purplish with yellow anthers, and it loses its leaves seasonally. It is cultivated as an uncommon ornamental hibiscus. Photographed in Florida.
