Heuchera villosa (Hairy Alumroot)
Native to the eastern and southeastern United States, this clump-forming perennial herb is associated with rocky wooded slopes. Broad, lobed leaves form a low mound, while hairy stems rise above the foliage to carry loose sprays of small flowers. The bell-shaped blooms are white to pink and appear in late summer, sometimes continuing into autumn. Its shade tolerance and decorative foliage make it useful in woodland and rock gardens. Photographed in Panama.
