Hedychium longicornutum has a dense cluster of orange and red flowers with long curled narrow lobes and projecting stamens

Hedychium longicornutum

Native to Peninsular Malaysia, this perennial ginger grows on trees and in rock crevices in lowland and mid-elevation forests. Swollen roots store water and help anchor the plant to its perch. The intricate orange-red flowers have long, slender red corolla lobes that hang downward, with curled staminodes and a deeply divided orange lip. Individual flowers remain open for about two days. Three-valved capsules open to reveal bright orange interiors and seeds embedded in vivid red fleshy coverings. Photographed in Florida.
