Guarianthe bowringiana 'Blue Moon'
A named selection of an orchid native from southern Mexico to Honduras, ‘Blue Moon’ belongs to a species that grows on rocks in humid tropical habitats. Club-shaped pseudobulbs support clusters of flowers, generally produced in autumn. The flowers are about two to three inches across, with broad, slightly wavy petals and a flaring, deeper-coloured lip. The species is valued in orchid breeding for its vigorous growth and abundant flowering. In cultivation, it benefits from high humidity, bright light and plentiful water during active growth, with less water while resting. Photographed in Florida.
