Goeppertia warszewiczii, native to the humid tropical forests of Central America, thriving in shaded understories where consistent warmth, high humidity, and rich, well-draining soils support its growth. The plant forms a clumping habit with large, broadly elliptic leaves marked by deep green upper surfaces with feather-like lighter streaks and a velvety texture, while the undersides exhibit a vivid purple hue, creating a dramatic contrast. Its inflorescence emerges on short, upright stalks, composed of spirally arranged bracts that in this species are pale yellow to cream with delicate pink or lavender tinges along the edges. From between these bracts, tubular white flowers emerge. Photographed in Florida.
